Bed Bugs in Boston & Bed Bugs Massachusetts - Heat Treatments
Conventional bed bug treatments are extremely tedious, require multiple visits, a significant amount of and use more than one application of insecticides to control the situation. Bed bugs in Boston, and even throughout the country, are growing increasingly resistant, and there are fewer treatment alternatives as regulatory restrictions have diminished many product options. However, with the use of heat, a Boston bed bug infestation can be eliminated in a short period of time, without the use of pesticides, allowing businesses to resume or residents to occupy the treated room quickly.
Thermal remediation is a proven non-chemical, environmentally friendly method of treating bed bugs . All insects have optimum living temperatures for growth, survival and reproduction. All insects also have lethal temperature limits, at which all stages lf the life cycle are eliminated. By targeting temperatures in the lethal range, the bed bug population can be eliminated. All life stages (adult, nymph, and eggs) die within minutes of reaching a temperature of 120 degrees F. During the thermal remediation process, temperatures in your home will be from 120 to 140 degrees F. These are lethal temperatures to bed bug populations but not hot enough to damage most household items.
Bed Bug Inspections
Thorough inspections are a vital step in the bed bug elimination process. This includes not only the infested room, but adjoining rooms as well, as bed bugs are excellent travelers. This allows Yankee Pest Control to pinpoint exactly where there are areas of insect activity so those areas can be targeted for treatment. At Yankee Pest Control, we employ a NESCDA certified canine team to aide us in the detection of bed bugs. We also provide visual inspections, night watch inspections, climb up inspections and dry ice inspections.
Length of Service
The length of service varies depending on the size of the structure, layout space, clutter, and materials structure is constructed of. Customers will need to vacate the premises for a period of approximately 8 – 10 hours…. possibly longer. It will take several hours to bring the structure up to the appropriate temperature, hold the temperature for the correct length of time, and then slowly bring the temperature of the structure back to down to a safe level for re-entry.
Treatment Area Coverage
For MA bed bugs heat treatment to be effective, it is important that all parts of the area being treated reach temperature. Yankee Pest Control will prepare a heating plan which will consider the layout of the area and its contents so that the heat treatment equipment can be placed optimally ensuring that the appropriate temperature be reached to eliminate bed bugs in Massachusetts.
Monitoring the System
Each sensor monitors heats in its specific area and send that information to the computer. The Data Display shows temperatures recorded in real-time at each sensor. By regularly monitoring the sensor readings, equipment can be adjusted to eliminate hot and cold spots.
Post-Treatment
Typically, customers may return to the treatment area on the same day. Temperatures will likely still be elevated when you return.
